How to draw a sugar skull
One fun way to spend an otherwise boring afternoon is drawing pictures to colour. Kids like to draw pictures for holidays, so why not try drawing a sugar skull to celebrate Dia de los Muertos?
It isn’t difficult to draw a sugar skull. With a little practice, even a small child could draw an acceptable-looking sugar skull of their very own.
If you enjoy drawing and would like to give it a try, follow along with these easy steps to draw your very own sugar skull.
Let’s get started!
1. Draw the head as an oval shape.

2. Draw the jawline along the bottom of the head shape.

3. Draw the eyes.

4. Draw the mouth with some lines for teeth.

5. Draw the nose. I did this nose as a upside-down heart shape.

6. Let’s start adding some details! Add some flower petals around the eyes.

7. Decorate the forehead. A spiderweb or cross is traditional.

8. Finish adding whatever details you like to the rest of the face. I have included hearts, dots, and vining flowers. Try to fill it in as much as possible.

9. When you are done, clean up your linework if necessary. Once it’s clean, color your sugar skull. Traditional colours used are bold primaries and secondaries. No pastels, please.
